| Ok, so I don't really hate quotations (although I do feel that there are a lot of quotes that are very cliche), but I do want you to tell me what you know. Tell me everything. Tell me what you ate for breakfast, who you talked to, what you're learning, what happened in your dream last night, what's on the radio right now, I don't care what you tell me, I want to know it all! But, I want you to write it down. I want you to write it on a piece of paper, so that, eventhough I'm not with you when it happens, I can "be there when it happens."
As most of you know (and if you don't I'm sorry I haven't told you yet), I'm going on Summer Project with Campus Crusade this summer. I will be hanging out in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina from June 1 to August 9. I will be meeting new people, working, and most importantly, telling others about the love of our Savior and what it means to live a life following Him.
Now, I'm sure you're all thinking, "How am I supposed get this piece of paper to her if she's in Myrtle Beach?" Well, the answer is the United States Postal Service. I know this is quickly becoming a lost art. (thus the continually increasing postage rate) However, it is only $0.42. Only 1 quarter, 1 dime, 1 nickel, and 2 pennies. That's not even half of a dollar. I know some of you are poor college students (most of you actually... or you soon will be), but 42 cents is not that much. All I ask of you is to write me one letter. One envelope, with one stamp, with one piece of paper, with writing on it, with my name on the outside. I know that you are all very busy people, with summer plans of your own. And I cannot even guarantee that I will respond to your letter with a letter. But I can guarantee that I will read your letter and most likely be extremely excited about getting it. So please, if you think about it, tell me what you know? Here's how:
- get a piece of paper (lined or not, it doesn't matter!)
- get a pen/pencil
- write a letter
- get an envelope
- place a 42 cent/forever stamp in the upper right hand corner of the envelope
- write your return address in the upper left hand corner of the envelope (so I can respond!)
- write the following address in the center of the envelope:
Campus Crusade for Christ Alyssa Hayse P.O. Box 1212 Myrtle Beach, SC 29578-1212 - fold the letter to fit in the envelope
- put the folded letter in the envelope
- put the envelope (with letter inside) in a mailbox (they can be found in every town, they're blue and can usually be found near a post office, which is also where you can find the 42 cent stamps!)
- go home/work/wherever else you would go and realize how happy you have just made me! :)
Thank you for making it through this post that was entirely too long for the purpose it was intended for! If you have any questions, please let me know! And I will answer them as fast as I can! P.S. If you are going on a Summer Project too, or will be hanging out at a camp that might have a lot of trees, or hanging out somewhere else fun (or even not so fun like taking summer classes :S) leave me your address and I'll try to write you!
| For those of you that have facebook, you have probably already read this or at least noticed that I wrote it via your news feed. But for those that don't have facebook, I decided to share it here too. Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won't feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It's not just in some of us; it's in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others. --Marianne Williamson
Why are we so scared to be great? Why are we afraid to let our light shine? God has made each one of us unique, giving each one of us specil gifts to use that will let others see His glory. I was watching Akeelah and the Bee today and her first task with her coach is to read this quote from the wall in his office. It was just something that I was thinking about, so I decided to share it with you.
| Jesus paid it all. All to Him I owe. Sin had left a crimson stain. He washed it white as snow. | | |
| "Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him! So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you, for this sums up the Law and the Prophets." Matthew 7:9-11 Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness, for they will be filled. Matthew 5:6 | | |
